Steve Richards is one of Britain’s leading political commentators and broadcasters. He writes columns for the Guardian, Times, Independent and FT. He is presenter of BBC Radio 4’s Week in Westminster and has presented BBC series on Blair, Cameron, Miliband and Corbyn. Earlier in 2017 he presented an award winning BBC TV series on Modern Prime Ministers and Leadership, from Harold Wilson to David Cameron, during which he uniquely delivered unscripted talks to camera for thirty minutes in one take.
His rolling one man show ‘Rock and Roll Politics’ has been a huge success in both London and at Edinburgh Fringe.
For eight years Richards also presented GMTV’s live political show The Sunday Programme. He has written and presented several political films for Channel Four and BBC2. He was named political journalist of the year in 2009 by the Political Studies Association. Richards’ widely acclaimed book The Rise of the Outsiders analyses the impact of outsiders from Trump to Corbyn and the failure of mainstream parties to respond to the new populism.
