Biography
Michael Platt is a neuroscientist whose work focuses on the brain’s decision-making processes. 
 
Platt is the Director of the Wharton Neuroscience Initiative, and is the James S. Riepe University Professor of Marketing in the Wharton School, Neuroscience in the School of Medicine, and Psychology in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.
 
Platt has served as Professor of Neurobiology, Director of the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences and Director of the Centre for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University. Organisations such as the National Institute of Mental Health, the Klingenstein Foundation, the McDonnell Foundation, the Simons Foundation for Autism Research International and the US Department of Defence have supported his research, and he has been featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, ABC, BBC, PBS, HBO Vice (forthcoming), and MTV Live. 
 
Platt has also served as the President of the Society for Neuroeconomics. He holds a PhD in Biological Anthropology from Penn, and a BA in Biological Anthropology from Yale.
