Former CEO of Barcelona Football Club

Biography

Joan Oliver was Chief Executive of Barcelona Football Club from 2008 to 2010.  During this period the Club and Team had extraordinary success.

In 1992 Joan started “Bon Dia Catalunya” a morning TV show at TV3, the main Catalan television channel. From 1994 he was the anchorman and director of this program that was the audience leader for 8 consecutives years. Between 2002 and 2004 he was Chief Executive of TV3, the most viewed channel in Catalonia.
 
In 2004 Joan started to work with Barcelona Football Club. He was initially in charge of selling the club’s TV rights and designing the international strategy of the club. In 2008 he was named Barcelona’s CEO. In the two seasons he was CEO, Barcelona became the first team ever to win six cups in a row. The Spanish national team that won the 2010 World Cup  mainly consisted of "Barça" players and the national team adopted the Barça style.
 
Joan is now living between Barcelona and New York.  His latest project is developing a project “Soul is Money” which helps corporations, sport associations, cities or countries become a world brand by discovering and developing their own identity.

Joan published a daily column in the newspaper “Avui” from 1995 to 2008, and is a regular contributor to the media, radio and television.
