Isaac Kenyon

Record-breaking eco-adventurer, expedition leader, award-winning climate change filmmaker, environmentalist, MIND mental health charity trustee with lived experience.

Biography

Isaac is a leader in the unique triad of outdoor adventure, sustainability and mental health and is one of the youngest endurance world-record-breaking eco-adventurers and international keynote speakers and team-building experts in the world. Isaac is also a gifted science communicator, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society of London and the Geological Society of London and a trustee chair for Mind mental health charity. Isaac is a sustainability leader and is a CEO and co-founder of Climate Explorers a community interest company with a mission to inspire action through sharing climate solutions. As an under 30, Isaac is one of the youngest international keynote speakers in the world which makes him very relatable to early career starters in companies. Isaac is different in that he is actively doing the experiences he talks about rather than a “has been” and holds many world records in endurance adventure sports which in the outdoor industry is rare by such an age.

Isaac’s dominant speaking topic is building a high-performing team which focuses on relationship building, communication, finding a team’s common goal, 5 fundamentals to preparation, resilience built through adversity and adapting to change (good and bad). Most adventurers you will hear about are solo, Isaac not only assembles teams to overcome adverse challenges in the most extreme environments but also works with teams to fully fund the expeditions from sponsorship and overfund for charity. Isaac can share this expertise in a unique way that many people can't through adventures he has team led.

“I invited Isaac to come to talk to my team at a team building/thought leadership event we were running internally, to inspire the team and challenge their thinking. The talk delivered was exceptional and was thoroughly enjoyed by the team, who found Isaac's stories to be remarkable. As a high-performance team, this galvanised our efforts and captured our imaginations, with a real impact on our offerings and service to our clients. I cannot recommend Isaac highly enough and look forward to inviting him to speak again at future events.”

– Thomas Rowson - Head of Events at Footprint Digital Marketing

Isaac also covers mental health topics, specifically in improving productivity through a mental health-focused culture. Isaac has lived experience with mental health and shares heartwarming compelling personal stories of overcoming mental health battles. Isaac’s experience as a trustee for MIND mental health charity and general education (degree in mental health awareness and training in mental health peer support and mental health first aid) is also very educational for audiences. Isaac has used a TED talk to share how nature-based activities and regular exercise are vital for good mental health and strives to create a platform which encourages a healthy lifestyle balance by reconnecting with nature and learning through the challenge.

“Isaac was a keynote speaker at the East of England Mental Health in Sport & Physical Activity Conference that we organised. The conference was aimed at professionals and volunteers from across various sectors, seeking to share learning as to how sport and physical activity can be used to benefit people’s mental health. Isaac’s story was very much in fitting with this theme, adding good value to the event. It was great to hear Isaac draw on his own experience of managing his mental health and the positive impact being active, particularly when immersed in nature has had on this. Hearing about the amazing feats Isaac has achieved and the challenges he has completed was truly inspiring. Yet, all members of the audience could apply and benefit from elements of his mindset themselves, even if not planning on completing any world record attempts any time soon! It was a pleasure to have Isaac present at our conference and we hope to work with him again in the future.“

- Tom Horey - Project Officer for Health The Herts Sports and Physical Activity Partnership

In 2021 Isaac co-founded a pending B Corporation called Climate Explorers CIC which works to inspire and provide tools to enable environmentally friendly behaviour change and share climate solutions, in order to build a global community that is resilient and adaptable to the degrading three pillars of climate, biodiversity and human well-being, and actively work together to restore them. In Isaac’s journey as the CEO and founder of this purposeful organisation, he has learnt a thing or two about sustainability leadership and is able to share these lessons with companies/organisations who are actively working on embedding ESG principles in their organisational culture through engaging teams in this area. As an eco-adventurer, Isaac shares inspiring stories and case studies of recent successful world-first carbon-neutral expeditions and film productions.

“Huge thanks for this team-building talk, Isaac! Incredibly inspiring as I knew you would be. The the team is very energised and ready to take on COP26!”

– David Saddington - Head of International Nature Campaign COP26 at Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS)

Isaac pursues extraordinarily difficult environments for the purpose to grow by pushing his limits in discomfort and is an expert in not only securing sponsorship for expeditions and raising £millions for charity but more importantly assembling high-performance teams to overcome adverse challenges. Some of note are, completing a relay swim across the English Channel (no wetsuit) hailed as one of the world’s most difficult open-water swims, summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro in 4 days fighting altitude sickness, breaking the World and British records for the lightweight longest solo continual indoor rowing machine row (83 hours with no sleep), rowed in a team across the Atlantic Ocean in 40 days through dangerous storms and 20-foot-high harsh seas. Isaac is the first to cycle from Orkney to the Isles of Scilly over sea and land (yes that is cycling over the sea) in 14 days and is the first to run 218km between the three highest peaks in the north, mid and south Wales (Mt. Snowdon, Cadir Idris and Pen-y-Fan) over 4 days continuously.

“Isaac is brilliant, ambitious, fearless and well accomplished. What makes Isaac one of the best motivational figures that I have come to know, is his ability to persevere, overcome and achieve an end goal no matter the sacrifices involved. He exude these aspects of his personality through is ability to be influential in the lives of others, including mine.”
