Mark Beaumont has enjoyed an extraordinarily successful start to a career in expeditions and documentaries by smashing the World Record (at the age of 25) for cycling around the world by a staggering 82 days and filming a four part series for the BBC. Cycling solo for 194 days and 17 hours over 18,300 miles is one of the greatest ultra endurance achievements of the modern era.

Whilst studying Economics and Politics at Glasgow University, Mark spent much of his time as Treasurer and Vice President of the Sports Association organising expedition and events. Graduating in 2006, despite debt and public doubting Mark set out to live his dreams of ultra endurance expeditions.

After a year of solo training and project management, Mark set out from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris to cycle over 100 miles a day for over half a year. Battling sand-storms and monsoon rains, through 800 miles around the Helmand Province of Afghanistan under Pakistan police guard, 3800 miles in 38 days into a relentless headwind across Austalia and being run over and mugged in the deep south of America were some of the challenges on this amazing adventure.

Marks story is one of single-minded determination and personal motivation, goal setting, expedition planning, and team-work. He has been highly commended for his natural presence on screen through the BBC documentary and has been warmly received from the very start of a promising career in public speaking. He is now planning further expeditions, documentaries and books.
