Niall Quinn is the Chairman of Sunderland FC
Niall was born into a sporting family in Dublin in 1966. His father Billy played hurling for Tipperary.
While playing all sports as a youngster, hurling was Niall’s favourite and he went on to represent Dublin in an All Ireland minor hurling final in 1983.
Niall Quinn joined Arsenal in 1983 and went on to Manchester City and Sunderland, where he became a great favourite with the people in the North East of England. Niall has worked with a number of charities and contributed the entire proceeds of his testimonial to charities in Dublin and Sunderland.
Niall Quinn played for Ireland throughout his career receiving 92 caps. He retired as a player in 2002 and has returned to live in Ireland.
Following Sunderland’s relegation from the Premiership in 2006, Niall put together a consortium of mainly Irish businessmen to buy the Club. He secured former Manchester United captain Roy Keane as manager and the team won the championship at the first attempt.
Niall Quinn is an engaging and charismatic speaker on teamwork and leadership.
Niall is also noted for his work with charity and has given generously of his time to raise funds for many deserving causes both in Ireland and abroad.
