Brendan Dempsey is busy. After finishing last year with a five week run in HQ with The Nuala’s, this year’s already seen Brendan in Rome for a small part in Martin Scorsese’s new epic Gangs of New York. Since then he’s giggled everywhere from Botswana to the Catskills in New York and with Apre Match in Manhattan. He then flew to Australia for a six-week festival tour taking in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. On his return he performed in his sixth successive Cat Laughs Festival in Kilkenny.

Most widely recognised for his role as Jim Kelly - the Lottery rep in Waking Ned (Divine) – Brendan’s other film credits include the recent hit comedy, About Adam, Separation Anxiety and Moll Flanders. For Television, he’s been in the Father Ted Christmas special, Couched, Podge & Rodge, and The End for RTE. Brendan’s stand up has been recorded and broadcast by RTE, ITV, BBC and Channel 4. He has also written and performed sketches for radio in Ireland and the UK.

When not gigging in London, Amsterdam or Jersey, Brendan was devising his third theatre improv show, Living Space, with the Read Co. The first two - St. Aguna’s and Human Stories 1-6, were received with great acclaim. A member of the Dublin Comedy Improv since 1994, Brendan has performed with improvisers world-wide, including famous people off the telly like some of the cast form The Simpsons, Whose Line is it Anyway? and Saturday Night Live. This year the Dublin Comedy Improv once again take their skills to the Edinburgh Festival, the Dublin Fringe, the Kilkenny Cat Laughs, and the Ennis Festival.
